MS Lit Original Myth

"A myth is a special kind of story that has significance and staying power." Crash Course Mythology

In class we have discussed how myths are stories with important lessons and cultural influences. Now, you get to write your own!

Guidelines:

1. Use the graphic organizer provided in class to come up with ideas for your myth. You do not have to fill in each category of the organizer, but the blocks should help you come up with ideas. From this organizer write your rough draft. The graphic organizer will be checked off in class (not taken up) one week before your story is due.

**A Note on the Origin of Your Myth** Your myth can take the form of "fan fiction" if you wish. This means you can use a world and/or characters of a myth we have read in class or you have read on your own. You can even combine or mix up these settings and/or characters if you wish. You are the author!

2. Your myth should include at least three characters, some kind of cultural influence, and a theme/lesson. Think about the way we fill in the HW graphic organizers for each of the stories we are reading. You should be able to fill in one of these graphic organizers about your own story.

3. Your myth should have a title.

4. Your myth should have 5-15 paragraphs.

5. Your myth should use a variety of sentence styles, as you are able, and have correct grammar and punctuation. AI should ONLY be used to help with your grammar and punctuation.

6. Your final copy of your myth should be typed in a normal sized font, 1 1/2 or double spaced. This will be read by a classmate and turned in on your due date.

Wednesday MS Classes: Your original myth is due on September 18

Monday MS Class: Your original myth is postponed because of Labor Day. It is due on September 23.
