Monday AND Wednesday Class, Happy Snow Day!

First, a poem from your teacher--

Monday and Wednesday classes,
Enjoy your snow days
However you will

Maybe you'll be
Layering up like Eskimos
Building forts, men, and missiles
Sledding down hills
Drinking your chocolate hot
Making memories

But I'll be
Tucked beside a fire
Eating homemade muffins
Drinking tea of course
Reading about some hero
And their circular quest
Watching thick white flakes
Cover drab winter colors
With the beauty of the north.

After you have your adventures,
And I'll see you again in class
Next week.
Happy Snow Day!

(We will catch up next week by
doing the slideshows for
chapters 1-6 all in one day on
Monday, January 22 and Wednesday, January 24.)

And now a poem from Elinor Wylie

"Silver Filigree"

The icicles wreathing
On trees in festoon
Swing, swayed to our breathing:
They're made of the moon.

She's a pale, waxen taper;
And these seem to drip
Transparent as paper
From the flame of her tip.

Molten, smoking a little,
Into crystal they pass;
Falling, freezing, to brittle
And delicate glass.

Each a sharp-pointed flower,
Each a brief stalactite
Which hangs for an hour
In the blue cave of night.
