1. Read Introduction to Mythology chapters 7 and 8.

2. Fill in the graphic organizers, define the vocabulary, and answer the questions for these two stories in your HOMEWORK PACKET.

On the back of the “Maui Slows the Sun” graphic organizer, answer these questions:

  1. How did Maui fix the problem of too little land? 
  2. What was the problem with the sun? 
  3. What will Maui need to fix the sun? 
  4. What agreement was made between Maui and the sun?
On the back of the “Gluscabi and the Wind Eagle” graphic organizer, answer these questions:
  1. In this story, where does the wind come from? 
  2. What does the wind do to Gluscabi while he climbs the mountain? 
  3. How does Gluscabi trick Grandfather Wuchowsen? 
  4. What changes when Grandfather Wuchowsen is in the ravine? 
Study the information from the graphic organizer and be prepared to answer questions on a quiz in class.

4. For grammar write three sentences with nouns and pronouns. Circle the nouns and pronouns in each of your sentences. There should be at least one of each in each sentence. These sentence will be shared and checked in class.

5. Journal Packet: Tell me about your family. Describe each family member. Don’t forget to describe yourself!

6. FINISH YOUR MYTH TO TURN IN DURING CLASS ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 16 OR WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18.
