1. Read Introduction to Mythology chapters 9 and 10.

2. Fill in the graphic organizers, define the vocabulary, and answer the questions for these two stories in your HOMEWORK PACKET.

On the back of the “The Dragon’s Pearl” graphic organizer, answer these questions:

  1. Why were many of the villagers starving? 
  2. How did the boy and his mother help the village? 
  3. What happened when the boy swallowed the pearl?
On the back of the “The Search for the Magic Lake” graphic organizer, answer these questions:
  1. How could the emperor’s son be healed? 
  2. Who decided she would go to the lake? 
  3. What do the macaws give Sisa?
Study the information from the graphic organizer and be prepared to answer questions on a quiz in class.

3. Grammar: Write 3 sentences using verbs and adverbs. Make sure there is at least one of each in each sentence and circle them.

4. Journal Packet: What is your favorite genre of story or movie? What is your favorite book or movie in this genre? Why do you like this genre best? Write at least seven sentences. Title your journal entry "MY FAVORITE GENRE" and put the DATE on your journal entry.
