MS Lit Homework from August 19 and 21

Welcome to Middle School Homework! For the beginning of this semester, we will be studying and discussing mythology around the world using the book Introduction to Mythology for Kids by Zachary Hamby. Each week, I will post homework assignments here on the blog for your student. All handouts will be given in class AND linked to here on the blog. Homework follows the SYLLABUS given in class.

This week's homework:

1. Read Introduction to Mythology chapters 1 and 2.

2. Vocabulary: define the words EITHER on the graphic organizer or on the back of the graphic organizers.

"Momotaro the Peach Boy"

Oni

Dumplings

Pheasant

"Gilgamesh and Enkidu"

Ziggurat

Mesopotamia

3. Fill in the rest of your graphic organizers in your HOMEWORK PACKET (given in class) for each story as we discussed in class.

No questions for the back of the graphic organizers this week.

Study the information from the graphic organizer and be prepared to answer questions on a quiz in class.

4. Answer this Journal in your JOURNAL PACKET (given in class) Tell me about your summer! What did you do? What did you read? Who did you see? Did you watch any good movies, hear any great music, meet any new people? Write at least seven sentences.

5. Grammar: On your own paper write three sentences containing titles of books, movies, stories, poems, tv episodes, tv series, etc. Remember that long works are underlined (or, if typing, italicized) and short works are put in quotes.

6. Have your parents initial and sign the RULES, SUPPLIES, and POLICIES paper given in class.
