Mrs. Oster's Summer 2024

Our summer began with me doing a lot of writing and the kids doing a lot of camps. If you're interested in reading any of my published poems, here are links!

"Sunrise" and "Poetry" published at The Lake

"Obnubilated" published at The Reformed Journal

"Summer Blessing" and "Do Not Fear Them" published at Spirit Fire Review

"How Long?" published at As Surely As the Sun

On July 4th, my husband and I visited Niagara Falls. We had to fly up to New York to pick up our youngest son from an acting camp (for which he got a full scholarship!), so we flew to Buffalo and then drove down to his camp to pick him up. If you haven't already visited, I highly recommend both the U.S. and Canadian sides of Niagara!

Did anyone hear about the McKays Roadtrip? I did it with a friend! McKays promised to give $800 trade cash to anyone who visited all five of their stores in ONE DAY. My friend and I started at the store in Mebane, NC, and ended up waiting for 3 hours in our first line. McKays had expected around 700 people to try to get the prize, and instead, 10,000 people started the journey and 7,000 finished! We were allowed to skip both the Winston-Salem store and the Nashville store, so we ended our day in Chattanooga and received our $800 trade cash!
see the books suspended from the ceiling in this cool book store in NYC?

Later in the summer, my husband had some special time off because of working at his job for 20 years. We took a family trip with our three younger kids to D.C., the Jersey Shore, NYC, Chicago, and St. Louis. We were visiting family or friends in every city. In D.C. we went to the Museum of the Bible (it's excellent!); in NYC we went to the Museum of Illusions and saw Wicked, and in Chicago we went to a ballgame and took a river tour. In St. Louis we just visited with family.
