  • 4. THEMES Lesson: A theme is a lesson that we are to learn from the story. Themes are complete sentences, do not mention the characters in the book, and can apply to anyone.--Make a list of topics from the books on the board. Topics are not themes--Themes are the lessons about the topics taught by the author. PROOF of themes come from quotes or specific incidences from the books.
    Common Themes: Split into tables--come up with a theme that IoHF and TBS share.  Fill in the blanks on COMMON THEMES while teaching.

Homework
1. Read all poetry and thoroughly answer the poetry questions in the HW packet.
2. Study all class notes, quizzes, HW questions, and vocabulary. Note: the vocabulary will only be taken from what was used on the quizzes. Most of the words are words that I hope you will use in your own writing. (Not words like quarto, etc.)
3. No journal, no grammar
4. Test next week on IoHF and TBS! After the test we will begin the unit on The Hiding Place.
